Students work in groups to collaborate and have fun as they build on their knowledge of math. Weekly club meetings include activities that reinforce middle school math content and an extended application of problem-solving skills. With the guidance and leadership of volunteer coaches consisting of local scientists, mathematicians, community members, parents, and teachers, each LVJUSD middle school coordinates its own MathCounts club to engage their most passionate math students. Mathematics is a foundation of STEM education - science, technology, engineering, and math.

Each of the middle schools' volunteers and math teachers work hard with our students to provide this unique and challenging opportunity in math,” shared Robyn Schlichter, math teacher and MathCounts Coordinator. It is truly a special event for our middle school students. “It was great to see so many students participating in our annual MathCounts event. Nearly 100 incredible math minds from grades six through eight representing all five LVJUSD middle schools participated in this year’s event of both team and individual competitions.
